Our Story

Founded in 1996, Vortex Systems grew from a hands-on shop solving urgent field problems into a trusted integrator and manufacturer of test stands and control systems supporting production and overhaul/repair operations worldwide.

Over time, our work expanded from one-off fixes to full lifecycle support – design, build, retrofit, installation, troubleshooting, and sustainment.

We partner closely with aerospace and turbomachinery teams who need reliable test systems, clear documentation, and software that operators can trust.

Today, Vortex combines practical build expertise with disciplined engineering – delivering test solutions that are precise, serviceable, and built to perform under real-world constraints.

Our Specialties

Vortex Systems designs, builds, refurbishes, and supports aerospace test systems and related tooling – delivering dependable equipment, clear documentation, and practical workflows for production and overhaul/repair environments.

Core services include mechanical design, electrical design, fabrication, and calibration – delivered as part of complete test system builds, upgrades, and support.

Services we commonly support include:
  • New test stands (design/build, integration, commissioning) (including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-pneumatic configurations)
  • Refurbish / modernize legacy stands (controls upgrades, re-work, documentation updates)
  • Harness fabrication (custom harnessing and electrical interfacing)
  • Air Cycle Test Stands
  • Hot / Cold Fuel Testing systems and upgrades
  • Hydraulic Test Stands
  • Vibration test systems (integration, upgrades, controls)
  • Environmental chamber test systems (integration, upgrades, controls)
  • Actuator testing systems and upgrades
  • Other custom test solutions (application-specific requirements)
Technical depth:
Across these services, our work often includes LabVIEW-based test control and data acquisition, custom software drivers and communications integration (including CAN Bus), calibration and verification workflows, and electrical interfacing deliverables such as patch panels and harnessing. Software deliverables can include automated/manual test modes, restart testing, and customer-aligned reporting outputs. We design for repeatability, serviceability, and operator clarity so systems perform reliably and can be sustained with confidence. We also support vibration testing programs and are actively expanding this capability for customers seeking integrated vibration test solutions.

Interfacing with Hardware Circuitry

Vortex engineers the “last mile” between test requirements and real hardware—designing electrical interfacing that is reliable, serviceable, and easy to troubleshoot. Our work includes signal conditioning, analog/digital I/O integration, patch panels, harnessing, and documentation packages that make systems maintainable over time. Where needed, we also integrate communications pathways (including CAN Bus) and verification workflows to ensure instrumentation reads correctly and repeatably.
We commonly interface with instrumentation and signals such as:
  • Flowmeters
  • LVDTs (4 or 5 wire)
  • Pressure Transducers
  • Proximity Probes
  • Resolvers
  • RTDs
  • Solenoids (Standard or PWM)
  • Speed Pickups
  • Thermocouples
  • Torque Motors
  • Torque Transducers

Our Credentials

Vortex Systems maintains proficiency in SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD (updated annually) and leverages LabVIEW as a core platform for test control, data acquisition, reporting, and remote troubleshooting.

We operate under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and are recognized by National Instruments for our ability to solve complex engineering challenges with modern tooling.

Meet The Team

Michael Mastriani, Engineering Manager, BSME

Michael leads engineering delivery at Vortex, bringing deep experience in aerospace test systems and mechanical design. He guides technical execution from concept through build, supporting customers with practical, reliable solutions that perform in production and overhaul environments.

Jessie Goyette, Director of Operations, BSME

Jessie leads operations and shop execution, drawing on decades of fabrication and hands-on build leadership. The focus: disciplined quality, repeatable processes, and smooth delivery from specification through installation and customer support.

LeRoy Butler, Business Manager BSME, MSME, PhD

LeRoy coordinates programs and customer engagement across technical and commercial teams. He helps translate requirements into executable plans—aligning scope, schedule, and delivery—so projects stay clear, responsive, and on track.

Joe Ralston, Production Supervisor

Joe oversees fabrication and production workflow, including BOM management, parts coordination, and installation readiness. He works closely with engineering to ensure builds meet Vortex’s quality standards and field requirements.

The Vortex Promise

Vortex Systems builds and supports test equipment that teams can rely on – day one and year ten. We design for repeatability, serviceability, and operator clarity, and we back our work with clean wiring, clear documentation, and practical support from engineers who understand both the hardware and the code.

We stand behind every deliverable – tool, service, or system – to perform as designed.
